Good work, spread the word
Well done everyone who has done this action. I live in a 30mph zone on the edge of town and people speeding really affects me. First of all I find it too stressful to walk to town with my two small boys as vehicles (including trucks) speed past us just inches away. One fall or wayward vehicle could spell disaster. Secondly, the noise difference between 30 and 40 is massive and often stops me hearing the TV (cars with big exhausts or motorbikes without bafflers are another story). Thirdly, speeding vehicles make it dangerous for me to get the car out of my driveway which I have to do a lot as I can't walk anywhere. AAARGH!! Its 30 for lots of reasons, thank you to those of you have enouth repect for other people to remember that. 29 April 2010, 12:41Stick to 30
Cruise Control - Brilliant invention. It stops one's speed drifing up to "just" get past one more car. Good in town but even better on the Motorway to stick to 70 (ish). So if you find your speed drifting up on the way downhill and staying up on the way up hill - either get cruise control, pretend you have it or follow a car that does! 14 April 2010, 14:36
wow
wow i didnt know that " at 35mph, you are twice as likely to kill someone as if you hit them at 30mph. Easy on the accelerator."but can't do it, i cant drive at 30 mph.........never, not even on my feet !! 31 March 2010, 20:10
Keeping to the limit
Theres this road I drive on to get to work and even though its a 30 it feel like it should be a 40 because of the smooth bends and wide lane and theres no houses along the side. But today I just kept my speed down, I was a we bit late for work but it didn't matter and I felt I was more in control of the car. Which I suppose is a good thing. 21 March 2010, 23:10Learner
Just started driving, not on my full licence yet. Already realising how on the road your speed effects everything, and its 30 for a reason! (was driving with my dad) 14 March 2010, 18:47too right
i sometimes dont known when people are going to stop in time eg traffic lights 28 January 2010, 14:30Kill Your Speed!
Sometimes my Dad goes really fast and I tell him to slow-down 25 January 2010, 21:3430 on Campus Drive
On the way to school in the morning, my boyfriend always drives at exactly 30mph...because that's the speed limit. Everyone speeds on that road, but there are reasons it's 30. It's a twisty-turned road. The college is also a wildlife reserve! AND some students (mostly the firefighter trainees) park in the far lot and then walk to main campus. I'd hate to see any students or animals get hurt. :( Unfortunately, driving 30 brings on a lot of tail-gating, and sometimes honking and middle fingers. But oh well, I rather like being safe and not being a JERK. :) Their actions only amuse me anyway. 13 December 2009, 11:03St Chads
i have done a video clip and a breafe to trell ppl to slow down 22 October 2009, 12:41Try dropping a gear
None of my cars (daily and classic) will happily do <30 in fourth gear. I have seen so many people that insist on being in 4th thinking it is efficient.
It is not, moreover, your engine will be labouring and cannot respond to sudden situations.
Stick to third in 30 limits.
PS the LIMIT is 30, if busy, do less. 28 February 2008, 18:50
Doing 30, when it says 30
After failing my driving test three times before I eventually passed after taking well over 60 lessons my license is so important to me, which is why I never speed, because I don't want it taken away from me! Now I know that it's good for both me and the environment around me it makes me proud not to be like other drivers and not speed, even when it's dark and nobodies looking!
