There is no 'away'.
A profound thought. Someone like Chris Martin should turn it into an album title.
But when it comes to throwing rubbish 'away', there is no 'away'. We think it disappears into thin air. But it doesn't. It sticks around, for thousands of years. Write that on your hand, Chris.

reuse and recycle
I always reuse the wasted paper of my home to write notes or to study for exams. And when there is no useful part left then I recycle it.i thought...
...recycling was normal, and not recycling illegal? At least that's how it works in Austria. Really shocked it seems to be different in other countries. 07 March 2010, 13:10Recycle Waste Paper
Waste paper is collected and sold as scrap to recyclers. Recycling paper from waste means lesser trees to be cut down to produce new paper thus maximizing carbon dioxide exchange. 17 February 2010, 05:40For as long as . . .
. . . I can remember I've been reusing paper. 07 February 2010, 15:26Ask Jim!
Our recycle bin is always full up, just ask Jim, the caretaker! 28 January 2010, 16:42reuse paper more than once!
I am given newspapers daily after a friend has read them. Less wastage. I read them and then they are used in the chicken shed as a floor covering for er droppings at night. The paper is the scrunched up and used in the woodburner to keep warm! 26 January 2010, 10:38Paper margarita night!
We keep a little bin for scrap paper and whenever we have a chunk of time (granted, it gets pretty full until we find the time) we put it in the blender and make new handmade paper out of it. There are so many options and tutorials out there, and it is fun! 21 January 2010, 23:52Recycling paper in year 5
Both year 5 classes got busy recycling paper!!we tore the paper into small pieces and mixed in with water to make a pulp. This was messy but great fun! Then we put the pulp onto some mesh racks and pushed out the water. Once we got rid of as much water as possible we turned the racks upside down and rolled the pulp between two sheets of paper with a rolling pin. Then we left it to dry!!! Have a go!!! 17 January 2010, 13:20
Map Waistcoat
I made a waistcoat out of old maps that wern't being used anymore!Recycling!
Our office is going paperless and we are scanning all our documents and sending the paper to the shredder, which recycles every single piece! 16 December 2009, 20:07Reycling at school
As teacher I see loads of paper ending up in the bin. In my school we have now provided a recycling box in every classroom. This is part of a project sponsored by the Green student leaders of the school and is has been very successful. 16 December 2009, 00:33recycle
Me and Family recycle ever week we recycle paper, Boxes and much and thats how i help the world 27 November 2009, 22:50local recycling
I'm putting more and more of my paper (especially low-grade stuff) in the compost bin rather than the recycling bag. It helps stop the compost going sludgy and reduces the amount of travel that it undergoes to be recycled. 06 November 2009, 18:04Recyle paper
I done my art homework to make a collage and the paper that I had cut pictures out of I recycled. 04 November 2009, 19:57School recycling
I do this at home and have also started recycling at school. The facilities do not seem that good, so I have a box under my desk in the office and all staff in there put their waste paper in the box. When full I take it to Sainsbury's with the rest of my recycling from home. 28 October 2009, 14:01Happy tress, happy kids, happy me
Ok, this is what I do. Any mail that comes into the house which is only written on one side and I don't need to file for a rainy day I put into the 'scrap drawer'When I need to write a shopping list, when my darling girl is having a work of art moment, when we're doing some wonderful home ed project or the phone rings and I need to make note of a message, out comes the goodies from the 'scrap paper' drawer.
It's incredible how much paper you can save in this way. In the past I've given away 2 piles of it to friends to use too - it soon accumulates and there is more than enough to go around ...
Share and share alike, but do try and stop the paper coming in at source by stopping your junk mail ;) 15 October 2009, 17:09

I have always recyled whether it's my old revision notes or just a newspaper. Even the odd bit of the litter which can be recyled goes into the correct recyling bins as well.:)
as a family we constantly recycle anything and everything that we can! my mum just put out 3 boxes of recycling out just 10 mins ago for the borough people to collect tomorrow morning! it contains paper, cardboards, tins, glass e.t.c! 03 September 2009, 21:20our street get the recycling taken 1ce every 2 weeks so its easy for us to recycle waste paper, also my uni have paper bins everywhere as well. In college they never had anywhere to recycle so id keep all my paper rubbish and take it home

Recycling isn't hard
As an avid recycler at home, I felt that my workplace was very wasteful and so much was thrown into the general waste that could be recycled, including paper. A colleague and myself set up a recycling initiative in the workplace which seems to be doing well. It requires a minimum of input now it is up and runnung, and even the sceptics are realising that there was far too much waste just being thrown away. A small action by two people in having a bigger effect-fantastic 09 April 2008, 09:43
