I prefer to know whats in my meal
Ever since I went vegan and then just vegetarian, I found it easier to just cook for myself. Simply, because no one else in the household was anywhere near my love for veggies, so I had to do it all myself. Its also much better to know what YOU have put on your own plate, instead of wondering what on earth do those ingeriends and nutrition information mean, at the back of that ready meal...Now I look out for nutritious products that go well together (5 a day!). I have a couple of cook books (they are a good source of culinary education!) I also look up recipes on the internet, with all these resources there’s no excuse why not to chose a healthy meal which YOU can create, rather than buying god knows what, at MacDonald’s or the Burger King. 15 July 2009, 14:46

Instead of eating a whole baked potato at dinner, I ate 1/2 and saved the rest for breakfast. I ate only one egg and one piece of toast. ( I usually have twice as much) 03 February 2010, 20:18split pea soup & white choc cranberry granola

Fab vegan roast, with parsnips, carrot and a roast pumpkin puree; and some kale for good measure. 15 January 2010, 21:23This one's a bit of a fib...
I'm learning. I can bake cakes and stuff, but I can't cook meals yet apart from beans on toast and, as of tonight, porrige. However, I have a DVD which has recipes for basic meals from one of the university open days I went to a couple of months ago, so I plan to do this :) just adding it to remind myself 13 January 2010, 22:23banana bread

I feel very lucky that I was shown how to bake by my mum, then went on to do cookery (O-level) at school. Now, I love to cook all sorts of meals, dishes and cakes, and if I'm feeling a bit low, I know cooking will ease my mind and bring calm and clarity into my life again. If you're daunted at the prospect of cooking, start by using a step-by-step children's cook book (one that doesn't just invite you to make sweet sticky things!), and do it with a friend who also wants to learn. Or ask a friend who already cooks to show you / help you. 28 December 2009, 09:53Christmas Dinner
This year, my brother and I were unable to make it home for the holidays as airfare is getting more expensive (esp. to get across the world!). So I made a delicious veggie lasagna, my brother made caramelized bananas for dessert and his roommate made sangria and salad. All in all, Christmas was absolutely lovely! 28 December 2009, 04:43Christmas Dinner

Cooking makes you relax after a hard day
Trying out a new recipe is so exciting and relaxing at the same time. Buying seasonal and regional vegetables and discovering what delicious things you can create with them is just the best!My favourite autumn vegetable is pumpkin - as soup with a little bit of ginger!

Basically, with this dreaded flu going around, my whole family have been ill. I've already had it, so I'm in charge for a while and last Sunday I cooked an entire roast for my family (I've got 7 brothers and sisters, so you can imagine the amount of potatoes that needed peeling...) and actually enjoyed it... 16 October 2009, 11:31Group pizza making session
I went away this weekend with a group of friends and bought loads of ingredients for pizza toppings. I made the base and tomato sauce from scratch and we all chose our own topping combination. Mine was, of course, the most delicious... 24 August 2009, 16:15Mmmm... fresh food
I did this in bulgaria last week when I was there. Its amazing how much better locally grown food tastes. Unfortunately in bulgaria I didn't have an amazing amount of choice for cheese. They have 2 types - yellow and white! :)But the white stuff is the best stuff on earth - you'll have to trust me on this one. 11 August 2009, 10:34
